Description: A true piece of Australian performance car history, the 1983 Holden VH G3 Commodore represents a unique chapter in Holden’s evolution.

With just 322 ever built, the G3 was a limited-production, factory-backed performance variant that combined European-inspired styling with classic Aussie V8 power — making surviving examples highly sought after today.

This particular vehicle has been restored and presents in striking Maranello Red, paired with a dark claret vinyl interior with cloth inserts that maintains its authentic 1980s character. Inside, it is further enhanced with an HDT Momo steering wheel, gear shift knob and footrest, along with the original GMH Eurovox radio and a rear Venetian blind. Adding to its provenance, the glovebox lid has been signed by Phil Brock.

Fitted with a full genuine Group 3 body kit, including wind splitters (rather than being a factory HDT G3), it captures the iconic HDT look and presence of the era.

Under the bonnet sits the iconic 5.0L V8 (308), matched with a desirable 5-speed manual transmission, delivering the raw and engaging driving experience these cars are known for. Mechanically, the engine was professionally refreshed in 2015, while the transmission was rebuilt the same year by Ballarat Driveline. It sits on 15-inch Irmscher wheels, with the original spare rim included.

With 132,779 km on the odometer, this G3 runs and drives, offering a great balance of usability and collectability.

With registration valid until July 22nd, 2026, this is a rare opportunity to secure a limited-production Holden that blends performance, heritage and rarity — ideal for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Buyer FAQs – How Our Auctions Work

How do I place a bid?

To place a bid, simply register for an account on our website. Once logged in, you can enter your bid amount directly on the item listing page. You’ll be notified if you’ve been outbid so you can place another.

Yes. A buyer’s premium applies to all lots and is clearly listed on each item page. This is added to the final hammer price.

Items listed as part of our Elite Auctions have undergone a 100-point inspection by a qualified mechanic. A detailed condition report is included with the listing to give buyers transparency and confidence. This only applies to items stamped with the Elite badge.

Some items listed with Mil & Co Auctions are available for inspection. If an inspection is available, this will be clearly stated in the listing. To arrange an inspection, you must contact our team via phone or email to book a time.

We encourage buyers to inspect items where possible, as all sales are final and no refunds are provided.

If you’re the highest bidder at auction close and the reserve has been met, you’ll receive an email with a payment summary and next steps. You’ll then be required to make payment within the specified timeframe (usually within 48 hours).
If the reserve has not been met, your bid will be referred to the vendor for consideration. We will contact you shortly after the auction to advise whether the sale has been approved.

If bidding ends and the reserve price hasn’t been met, the item is referred to the vendor. This means the vendor will review the highest bid and decide whether to accept, reject, or negotiate the offer. We will contact the highest bidder after the auction with the outcome.

After close of sale, you will receive an invoice that contains all payment instructions.

Once full payment has been received and cleared, you’ll receive a confirmation email. All items must be collected within 48 business hours unless other arrangements have been made with our team.

Yes. For Elite Auctions, inspection reports can be used to get third-party quotes for any repairs. For transport quotes, please contact us and we can connect you with one of our trusted providers.
